Albert Taylor Obituary

Albert "Cully" Taylor, 80, of Kewanee, died on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2022. Cully was born September 24, 1941 in Kewanee, the son of Albert "Bert" Taylor and June Balstad Taylor. Survivors include his daughter Lisa (Michael) Strauss of Boulder, CO; his son David "Opie" (Danyale) Taylor of Kewanee; ten grandchildren, Brandy, Lexi, Kendra, Bailey, Tyler, Parker, Calab, Brooklyn, Luke and Hani; one great grandchild, Castyn; and his loving dog, Junie the Bowser. Cully was preceded in death by his parents, June and Bert, his wife Margaret, as well as his brother Richard "Rich" Taylor.  Cully attended Kewanee schools and graduated from Kewanee High School in 1959. He attended the University of Illinois where he met Margaret on a blind date. On their second date, Margaret broke her knee doing the twist and Cully met his future in-laws for the first time at the hospital. After graduation, Cully and Margaret moved to Germany. Cully served his country in the United States Army in both Germany and Vietnam. After leaving the army, Cully worked at Allis Chalmers in the Chicago area before becoming the fourth generation of Taylors to own and operate Taylor and Son. Cully took pride in serving the Henry County Community as the owner of Taylor and Son and as a member of the Kewanee Hospital Board.  Cully loved boating on the Illinois River, going to the Lake of the Ozarks, watching a Bears or Illini football game and playing poker with his grandkids. He especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it and always had a gleam in his eye as he listened to stories and shared stories. He was a kind, caring, hard- working, humble man who will be incredibly missed.  Services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society in Kewanee or to a cause dear to the donor. Please leave an online condolence for Cully's family at www.schuenemantumblesonfuneralhome.com.
