Alice M. Owens

Alice Marie Owens, 68 of Aurora, formerly of Toulon, died Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Vistas of Fox Valley, Aurora. Alice was born January 6, 1953 in Kewanee, the daughter of Kenneth and Wilna (Bort) Elliott. She obtained an associate's degree from Augustana College.Alice is survived by two sons, Zachary Owens, Chicago and Jeremy Owens, Aurora; one sister, Joyce (David) Jones, Big Rock, IL; and two brothers, Tom (Linda) Hockett, Galva; and George Hockett, Kewanee. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved boyfriend, Ron Houtz.Alice was the Assistant Director of the Aurora Child Development Center. She had also been a school bus aid and worked for Two Rivers Head Start and People for Child Care. She also drove for Meals on Wheels in Plano. Alice attended the Toulon United Methodist Church when she lived in the area. Alice loved music, especially playing the steel guitar and tap dancing. She liked watching figure skating. Alice was a special lady and loved spending time with her family. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Drane will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
