Ann Prusator Obituary

Anna (Ann) Harriet Prusator passed away peacefully with her family present in Grove, Oklahoma, on March 28, 2025.  She was born on June 17, 1931, to Joseph and Helen Kaznowski in Spring Valley, Illinois.  Ann and her 4 sisters grew up in a tight knit family and Ann continued that closeness with her sisters throughout her entire life.  Ann met a tall, handsome sailor who turned out to be the love of her life, Donald Prusator, and they married on April 23, 1955, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Spring Valley, Il. They were married for 55 years, during which they made their home in Kewanee, Illinois and raised two children, Tom and Karen.

Ann was known to all as a hard worker, starting her first job at the Westclox factory in Peru, IL, at age 16. Throughout her life she held various jobs including florist, nurse’s aide, and cafeteria cook, always willing to do whatever job was available to contribute to caring for her family.  Even in her retirement, Ann could always be found looking for a job to do and a way to be helpful. Being a grandma was the “job” she especially cherished.  Ann and Don dedicated much of their free time to visiting and supporting their grandchildren, Ashley and Michael, who they dearly loved and adored.  After Don’s passing in 2011, Ann relocated to Oklahoma to be closer to family where she enjoyed the privilege of welcoming five great grandchildren who knew her as their “Busia”.

Ann was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She taught her family to make pierogis, though they were slow learners. She would supervise to make sure the dough was rolled for maximum tenderness. Ann had many hobbies including knitting, fishing, and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed playing euchre, bingo, and other games with family and friends. Ann kept up with her favorite sports teams, especially Cubbies baseball and the Chicago Bears. Much to her family’s amazement, she was also a super fan of Dennis Rodman in the glory days of the Chicago Bulls.

Ann sent cards for all occasions and never missed an anniversary, birthday, or holiday. She wanted everyone to know how special they were to her. She was a devout Catholic and served in the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Francis of Assisi in Kewanee, and later at St. Elizabeth’s, her parish Church in Grove, OK.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents Joseph & Helen Kaznowski, and sister Dorothy Dobberstein.

She is survived by her son Tom (Terri) Prusator of Afton, OK, daughter Karen Prusator of Overland Park, KS, grandchildren Ashley Henson (Justin) of Edmond, OK, & Michael (Dawn) of Fenton, MO, great-grandchildren Thomas, Natalie, Bear, Vivianna, & Lily. She is also survived by her sisters Bernadette Kurtz, Elizabeth Michels, and Helen (John) Kosciewicz.
