Barbara “Barbie, Barb” A. Bowman, 57, of Geneseo, formerly of Kewanee, died Friday, July 19, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Barbie was born February 10, 1967, in Kewanee, the daughter of Albert “Al”, Jr. and Karen (Poland) DeConinck. Barbie graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1986. Barbie married Mark Bowman on July 17, 1993, at the Kewanee Methodist Church; he survives.
Barbie is also survived by her mother, Karen DeConinck; her mother-in-law, Betty Bowman, Geneseo; sister-in-law, Ruth (Ed) Kolpacki, Chicago, Mary (Jeff) Parrott, Colona; nieces, Ashley (Justin) Ricali, and Megan Kolpacki; nephew, Dave Parrott, Colona; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert DeConinck, Jr.; two aunts, Katie (Bud) Johnson, and Patricia (Frank) Schambaugh; paternal and maternal grandparents; and her father-in-law, Richard E. Bowman.
Barbie worked at The Deck in Geneseo until their closing, she then worked at The Cellar. Barbie loved fishing with her family and hunting and frogging with Al. Barbie was a daddy’s girl. She also enjoyed fishing and camping with Mark and their trips together to doctor’s appointments. Barbie enjoyed going with Mark to his guitar lessons to walk and play with the dog. She was always an upbeat and happy person. She enjoyed going to the movies with Mark and visiting Katie while they were there. She was an avid Chicago Bears fan. Barbie had a heart full of empathy for everyone and never felt bad for herself; she continued giving through her death by being a Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, August 2, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the funeral home, it will also be live streamed on the funeral home’s Facebook page. Pastor Dave Murphy and Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
