Brenda L. Kopp

Brenda L. Kopp, 58, of Kewanee, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. Brenda was born December 21, 1965, in Kewanee, the daughter of Dean and Judith “Judy” (Westervelt) Kopp. Brenda graduated from Neponset High School, with the class of 1984, “Go Zephyrs”. Brenda obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work from Western Illinois University.

She is survived by her mother, Judy; siblings, Fred (Debbie) Kopp, Dena (Brent) Huber, of Kewanee; nieces and nephews, Matt (Jill) Huber, Mandy (Tia) Thompson-Huber, Malerie Schmidt, Lorelei (Greg) Ohlson, Brandon (Tricia) Kopp, and Joshua Kopp; great nieces and nephews, Bentley, Marlee, Blake, Bella, Jaton, Paxon, Madon, Brylee, Tavon. She was preceded in death by her father, Dean and a brother, Terry Kopp; great nieces and nephews, Zaion, Kidyn, Masyn; and her beloved cats, Pepsi and Baby.

She was a Victim Advocate for the Henry County State’s Attorney. Brenda was the Dean of Girls at Mooseheart, in Aurora. She also worked for Freedom House. Brenda made a profound difference in the lives of her colleagues and the victims she worked with, they were not only her colleagues, but they also became an extension of her family. The kids at Mooseheart held a special place in her heart. She thoroughly enjoyed her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She never missed a concert or a sporting event for them. She was an avid Cubs and Bulls fan.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. The family requests that you wear your favorite sports attire for the visitation.  Memorial services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, August 9, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Lancaster will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Braveheart Children’s Advocacy Center, Cambridge or Freedom House, Princeton.
