Brian L. Sauer, Sr.

Brian L. Sauer, Sr., 42, of Kewanee, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Methodist Hospital, Peoria. Brian was born September 23, 1980, in Kewanee, the son of John and Terry (Sauer) Rist; they survive. Brian married Amber Raska on June 22, 2004; she survives.

Brian is also survived by his children, Jacquel (Austin) Rasmussen, Jewel Calef, Noah Sauer, Alexis Sauer, Brian Sauer, Jr., Peyton Sauer, Aiden Sauer, all of Kewanee; two grandchildren, Skyelynn Rasmussen and Bentley Green; sister, Jessica (Kevin) Petty, Kewanee; mother and father-in-law, Sandi (Rick) Esterly, two brothers-in-law, Dustin Bowman, Kewanee,  Jimmy (Nicole) Raska, Galesburg; one sister-in-law, Jamie (Troy) Painter, Galesburg; aunts and uncles,  Tracy (Michael) Blanks, Kewanee, Larry (Heidi) Sauer, Texas, Laman (Shelli) Sauer, Kewanee, Jeff (Dorothy Roe) Rist, Kewanee, Peggy Rose, Tennessee; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Laurel Sauer; paternal grandparents, Paul and Jan Rist.

Brian was a mechanic. He was self-employed as a landscaper and did snow removal; he also did car repo and transportation. He was a member of the Kewanee RC Flyers and The Church of Jesus Christ – Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed flying RC airplanes, camping at Sunset Lakes and Indian Trails, grilling, and 405 street outlaw races. Brian loved spending time with his family at Wisconsin Dells and swimming with the kids. He also enjoyed working on cars. He was always good for a great joke and loved making people laugh. Brian loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ – Latter Day Saints. Elder William Currier will officiate. In memory of Brian please dress casually. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established for his children.
