Bruce L. Ward

Bruce L. Ward, 80, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center. Bruce was born May 9, 1944, in Kewanee, the son of Roger H. and Shirley J. (Mandle) Ward. He graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1962. Bruce married Joann Gillen on August 24,1974, in Kewanee; she survives.

Bruce is also survived by sisters-in-law, Rose Reiff, Thomson, IL, Vicki Darrah, Savannah, IL, Toni Shearer, Alaska, Rita Mitchell, Clinton, IA; brothers-in-law, Arthur Gillen, Rock Island, John Gillen, Savanna, Orley Smith,East Moline, Ron Bumphrey, Kewanee; numerous nieces and nephews and six that he thought of as his own children, Bree, Zach, Stephanie, Elijah, Zurelia, Everly;and two good friends, Dwayne and Kent. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Karen Smith and Sharon Bumphrey; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Reiff.

Bruce worked at Langman Construction, Inc., Rock Island. He was a member of Local Union #852. Bruce enjoyed fishing and camping in Canada. He was a sports fan through and through, especially Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed stock car racing. Bruce especially loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the funeral home.
