Carolyn E. Tuttle, 79, of Kewanee, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Betty’s Garden Memory Care. Carolyn was born June 4, 1945, in Kewanee, the daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth (Cochran) Brooks. She attended and graduated from Toulon High School with the class of 1963. Carolyn married Ken H. Tuttle on August 10, 1963, in Toulon; he survives.
Carolyn is also survived by son, Dan (Julie) Tuttle, Kewanee; grandchildren, Sara (Jacob) Paxton and Cali Tuttle, Zachary (Alexandria) Tuttle; and great grandchildren, Lexi Inman, Wyatt Paxton, Jayden Tuttle, Elliana Tuttle, Dawson Tuttle; nephews, Bobby Brooks, Everett, WA, Kevin and Brian Elgin; and nieces Cindy and Melanie Elgin; numerous cousins; and very good friends, Linda Hove, Sharon Tibbs. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Daryl Tuttle; and two brothers, Tom and Dean Brooks.
Carolyn worked at Hove Truck Line and GTE; she was most recently a secretary at the First United Methodist Church for 11 years. Carolyn also worked at Calvert Tax and Accounting part time. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Sarah’s Circle, and the funeral luncheon committee, she was very involved in other church committees. Carolyn was also a member of the Rotary Club. She was the first runner up in the Kewanee Sesquicentennial Miss or Mrs. Queen Pageant.
A master of sewing, crocheting, and baking, Carolyn's creations were not just crafts but extensions of her love and care for those around her. Carolyn was blessed with a close-knit circle of friends. Carolyn's joy was amplified by the laughter and stories shared with her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored more than words could express. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the church. Pastor Haley Hausman will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
