David "Dave" William Price, 77, died peacefully on May 12, 2022, with family by his bedside at Unity Point Health-Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.He was born in Kewanee, IL on April 3, 1945, the son of George Price and Anne (King/Price) Draves. He was their second child and had four siblings: Sandy Stuckey, Steve Price, Debbie Stabler, and Sue Simaytis. Dave graduated from Kewanee High School in 1963. Afterward, he went to work at the Kewanee Boiler. He was drafted into the US Navy in 1965 and served on the USS Tripoli. On June 2, 1967, Dave married Virginia Kay Price after they had been dating for almost two years, and they honeymooned in Hawaii, where Dave was stationed. Dave and Virginia have two children and two grandchildren. After being honorably discharged in 1969 as a Petty Officer, 3rd Class, Dave went back to work at the Boiler. Shortly thereafter, he started work at John Deere Davenport Works in 1977. He retired in 2007.Dave enjoyed classic rock, old Western TV series, and golf, and he had a strong affinity for the Doors and James Bond. He was also a Chicago Bears and a Chicago White Sox fan. Dave knew 1960's music trivia extremely well, even during the final days of his life. Oftentimes, he could be a bit of a perfectionist, and that showed in the meticulously diagonal lines of his front yard. He was also a proud UAW, VFW, and Legion member. Dave particularly enjoyed spending quality time with his twin grandsons, and he was known as "Papa" since they learned to talk. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Price; his children, Michelle (Andrew) DeFillppi and Kylie (Lara Roemer) Price; and his grandchildren, D. Cade Stalides and Holden David Stalides. Survivors also include his younger sister, Sue (Michael "Spider") Simaytis, his sister-in-law, Pat (Tom) Weeks, and brothers-in law, Mike (Arlene) Stone, Tom (Lori) Stone, and George Stone. He was preceded in death by his father George Price, mother Anne (King/Price) Draves, sister Sandy Stuckey, brother-in-law Tim Stone, father-in-law Buck Stone, sister Debbie Stabler, brother Steve Price, and mother-in-law Jane Stone.A private graveside service will be held for family on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, IL.
