Dean R. Price

Dean R. Price, 95, of Neponset, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at OSF Saint Frances Medical Center, Peoria. Dean was born October 24, 1927, in Kewanee, the son of Robert and Laura (Swearingen) Price. Dean graduated from Neponset High School in 1946. Dean married Janet M. Johnson on September 5, 1950, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Kewanee; she survives.

Dean is also survived by two daughters, Linda (Ethan) Whitney, Peoria, Laurie (Chet) Bauer, Peoria; three grandchildren, Nathan Whitney, Peoria, Blake (Angela) Bauer, Washington, IL, Betsy (Ricky) Kempe, Lewiston, MO; two great grandsons, Isaac and Levi Bauer. He appreciated all the help he got from his friend Larry Stabler. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Wayne Price.

Dean participated in football, basketball, and track while in high school. He was a lifelong farmer, who loved the land. Dean was employed by the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was also employed by the USDA, climbing grain bins. Dean was a volunteer for the Neponset Fire Protection District and was on the board of directors. He was also on the board for the Berlin Mutual Insurance Company, Princeton. Dean enjoyed watching sports on TV, he was also a fighting Illini fan. He took pleasure in watching his grandson’s basketball games and granddaughter’s cheerleading; at Dunlap High School, he never missed a game. Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; any time anyone of them needed support, he was there.
