Donald Fortman

Donald D. Fortman, 83, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at his home. Donald was born May 7, 1938, in Kewanee, the son of Leonard and Gertrude (Wannenmacher) Fortman. He graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1956. Donald married Glenda Pyle on October 3, 1959; she preceded him in death on April 1, 2019. Donald is survived by one son, Jeffrey (Michele) Fortman, DVM, Flossmoor, IL; one daughter, Stephanie (Dennis) Parsons, Park Forest, IL; and four grandchildren, Zachary and Colin Parsons, and Claire and Olivia Fortman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son in infancy, Shawn; sister, Shirley Winders; and a brother, John "Jack" Fortman. Donald served in the United States Marine Corp. Donald worked for Hyster Company in production control until 1985 and thereafter at Pine's (Great Dane). Donald served on the Kewanee Veterans Council. He enjoyed buying presents for Toys for Tots and shopping with Glenda. He also enjoyed reading and watching Westerns. He especially loved the time spent with family, including playing games like Rummikub and Scat. Visitation will be from 11:00 - 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Graham will officiate. Masks are required, please observe social distancing guidelines. Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Private burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Kewanee Schools Foundation.
