Donald “Donny/Guppy” W. Grabbe, 61, of Kewanee, passed away September 17, 2025, at his home. Donny was born August 25, 1964, in Kewanee, the son of Theodore B. and Virginia L. (Piester) Grabbe. Donny attended and graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1982.
Donny is survived by his daughter, Erica Grabbe, Kewanee; granddaughters, Amaya and Aaleyah Thompson; siblings, Pam Marsh, Crystal (Jim) Brose, Mark Grabbe, Kathy (Richard) Burns, all of Kewanee; sister-in-law, Chelli Grabbe, Neponset; an aunt, Kathy Lay, Uma, AZ; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jacob Grabbe; and a brother, Theodore “Ted” F. Grabbe.
Donny owned and operated Guppy’s Lake. Before owning Guppy’s Lake, he owned Grabbe Concrete, and the Wings N’ Things Food Truck with his son, Jacob. He loved farming. Donny was a master cook; his specialties included meatloaf, tenderloins, pizza, wings, beef and noodles, and chili. He was an avid L.A. Rams and a NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Horseshoe Club; he enjoyed fishing and cooking the fish that everyone caught. He was a phenomenal “guitar player.” Donny especially loved his granddaughters. Donny found a friend in everyone; he was a social butterfly.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, September 26, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. The family has asked that everyone wear their favorite Guppy’s attire. Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Following the graveside there will be a Celebration of Life at Guppy’s. Memorials may be made to Erica Grabbe for an Education Fund to be established for his granddaughters.
