Donovan "Don" Price

Donovan Clayde Price, 76, of St. Louis, passed away in his sleep on July 7, 2023 from Parkinson’s disease, with his friends and family by his side. Don was born on July 6, 1947 in Moline, Illinois. He was the son of Adelaide and Chalmer Price.

Don graduated from Moline High School in 1965 and Indiana University in 1969. He entered the Air Force upon graduation and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his service, he joined his father at John Deere in Moline, which marked the start of a forty-year career in manufacturing. He married his former spouse, Marlys Hampton, on May 7, 1977, and they had two children, J.C. and Tibby, whom they adored. In 1985, he moved his family to St. Louis to work at McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) and remained a St. Louisan for the rest of his life.

Don was a devoted son, loving father, and loyal friend. His mother referred to him as ‘Donnie,’ and his father shared with him a passion for basketball and golf. He was a family man – always there to support his children and lift them up in times of need. Don loved socializing and traveling with his friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and joy for life.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Adelaide and Chalmer Price, and is survived by his children J.C. Price (Alison) and Tibby Lee (Aaron); grandchildren Emerson Price, Harper Price, Tristan Lee, Addie Price, and Lily Price; best friend and companion Karla Lewis and her children Natalie Baugher (David), Trevor Lewis (Amanda), and Tara Rosso (Tony); sister Lynn Olsen (Steve); ex-wife Marlys Hampton (Paul).

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Don’s friends and family. His final resting place will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Kewanee, Illinois next to his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made in memory of Donovan Price to any foundation supporting Parkinson’s.
