Duane Heise, 84, of Kewanee, died January 19, 2022, at Kewanee Care Home. Duane was born February 15, 1937, in Neponset Township, the son of Ruben and Ruth (Rathnow) Heise. He graduated from Neponset High School with the class of 1955. Duane married Luella Watson on August 12, 1962; she preceded him in death in December 2016. Duane is survived by two daughters, Susan (Nelson) Valerio, Garden Grove, California, Kendra (Brian) Showalter, Marquette Heights, Illinois; six grandchildren, April (Robbie), Audrie (Rigo), Brandon, Noah, Marilyn, Joel; and three great grandchildren, Adrian, Nathan, Ronnie. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Luella. Duane served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He owned and operated his own farm, milking cows, hogs, and working the land. He was a member of the Church of Peace and of the Brotherhood and Peacemakers, and served on the church board for six years. He was a Neponset Township Trustee for 24 years. Duane enjoyed collecting model trains, antique tractors, and Lincoln logs. He also enjoyed playing Dominos and cards. Duane loved spending time with his family; especially spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Peace Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to the Church of Peace.
