Edith J. Aldred, 90, of Kewanee, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Arcadia Care Toulon. Edith was born July 14, 1934, in Kewanee, the daughter of Harold F. and Veachie A. (Beckner) Pyle. Edith attended Kewanee High School, graduating with the class of 1952. Edith married William F. Aldred, Sr. on January 31, 1953; he preceded her in death on October 22, 2011.
Edith is survived by three children, William, Jr. (Dawn) Aldred, Winnsboro, SC, Aileen (Tina) Aldred, Waynesville, IL, Robert (Heather) Aldred, Williamsfield, IL; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Harold F. Pyle, Jr., Fairfax, VA; a sister, Ruth Green, Bloomington, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David A. Aldred; and a brother, Richard Pyle.
Edith worked at City Hall until transferring to the Kewanee Police Department where she worked as a telecommunicator for many years. During her younger years, she enjoyed watching the Chicago Bulls. She loved her dogs, Emily and Roscoe. Edith enjoyed going on cruises and traveling with William, Sr. Family was important to Edith, her memory will be treasured in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society.
