Elaine M. Carlson

Elaine M. Carlson, 95, of Springfield, formerly of Kewanee, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at her son's home in Springfield. Elaine was born January 2, 1925 in Kewanee, the daughter of Emil and Marie (Buysse) Diericks. She attended Visitation Grade School and graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1943. Elaine married Eugene Carlson on July 14, 1944 in Ayer, Massachusetts; he preceded her in death on November 20, 2016.Elaine is survived by two sons, Richard (Kathy) Carlson, Springfield, Kenneth (Diana) Carlson, Andover, IL; four grandchildren, Brandon (Tricia) Carlson, Tamara Carlson, Angela (Bob) Galassie, Andrea Carlson; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Raymond (Elma) Diericks; and an infant daughter.Elaine worked for General Electric for 25 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Elaine enjoyed sewing and crafting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.A private Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church. The Mass will be live streamed on Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Facebook page at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 31, 2020. Father Doug Hennessy will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
