Elaine Dillow Obituary

Elaine Dillow, age 85, of Kewanee, Illinois, died March 29,2022 at OSF St. Luke Medical Center in Kewanee, Illinois. Elaine was born in Knox County near Galesburg, IL on March 20, 1937 to Norman and Doris (McElroy) Rosenberry. She married Frank Dillow in Galesburg, IL on August 23, 1959. They have been married for 62 ½ years. Elaine is survived by her husband; a son, Doug (Tammie) of New Braunfels, TX; two daughters, Cheri Elges of Bettendorf, IA and Kim (Todd) Brue of Tomball, TX; a brother, Dwayne (Tamy) Rosenberry, of Bristol, IN; a sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Miller of Hendersonville, NC, and brother-in-law, Bob Bradley, Knoxvlle, IL. Grandchildren are Tim (Kimberly) Dillow, Patrick (Hayden) Dillow, Andrew Elges, Zachary Elges, Daniel (Natalie) Brue, Trevor Brue, Matthew Brue, MaryBeth Brue, Logan (Jenna) Brue. Step grandchildren are Jeremy (Emily) Elges, Josh (Jenny) Elges and Jelena (Brandon) Beideman. Great grandchildren are McKinley Dillow, Lyla Dillow and Jack Dillow and step great grandchildren, Katarina Tolic, Luka Elges, Mia Beideman, Chayton, Lola, Micah and Bennett Sparks, and many of Cheri's day care children who called Elaine, Grandma. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Norma Bradley and son in law, Ernie Elges.Elaine graduated from Galesburg H.S. and Western Illinois University with a B.S. in Home Economics. She did additional graduate studies at Illinois State University, Southern Illinois University and the University of Northern Colorado. She taught Food Service and Home Economics at Pontiac H.S. for 14 years. Elaine and Frank then moved to Kewanee, and for 14 years operated the Dairy Queen, where they won an award for reaching one million dollars in sales. The Kewanee D.Q. was the third Dairy Queen in Illinois to reach this goal. Elaine was an avid quilter, seamstress, cookie baker, and dog lover (Big Red, Mimi, Twinkie, and Toby).Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schueneman- Tumbleson Funeral Home, Kewanee, IL. There will be a visitation also on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am following the visitation with Pastor Jon Vincent, Rev. Mark Graham and Rev. Martin Gutzmer officiating. Burial will be in the Wethersfield Cemetery, Kewanee, IL.Memorials may be made to the Frank and Elaine Dillow Music Scholarship Fund. Write checks to: Illinois Prairie Community Foundation.
