Elmer L. Eilts

Elmer L. Eilts, 83, of Kewanee, died Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Kewanee Care Home. Elmer was born November 29, 1938, in Golden, Illinois, the son of Ralph Eilts and Elsie (Grunwalt) Smock. He attended Kewanee High School, graduating with the class of 1956. Elmer married Ada McClain on June 5, 1960, in Kewanee; she preceded him in death on May 2, 2010.

Elmer is survived by one grandson, Tyler Eilts, Chicago; one great granddaughter, Adalynn Eilts-Hipkins, Calamus, IA; sisters-in-law, Donna Cox, Kewanee; Martha Nyert, Kansas City, MO; niece/caregiver, Debbie (Chuck) Frail, Kewanee; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Pamela Eilts; granddaughter, Megan Eilts; two sisters, Verna Anderson and Dorothy O’Dear; and two brothers, Henry and George.

Elmer worked as a supervisor at Kewanee Machinery and Conveyor, and later worked as a foreman for Bush Hog in Selma, Alabama. Elmer was a regular MacGyver and could tinker with anything. He was a storyteller. Elmer enjoyed NASCAR, dirt motorcycle races and most all spending time with his family.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. David Pendergrass will officiate. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henry County Humane Society, Kewanee.
