Emily J. Beckman, 77, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her home. Emily was born November 27, 1946, in Kewanee, the daughter of Robert and Myrtle (White) Burwell. Emily attended Kewanee Schools, graduating with the class of 1964. Emily married John M. Beckman, on July 10, 1966; he survives.
Emily is also survived by one son, John (Tami) Beckman, Kewanee; two granddaughters, Brittani (Mitch) Brewer, Pekin, Tia (Mandy) Thompson-Huber, Kewanee; two great grandchildren, Whrenli and Lhetti; two sisters, Vivian Burwell, Kewanee, Robin Burwell, Kewanee; niece, Kristina Hammond; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Burwell; aunts, Donna Whitcher, Lola Malone; sister-in-law, Phyllis Draminski; and a niece, Carla Krause.
Emily worked as a housekeeper for Kewanee Public Hospital, and later cleaned houses. Emily was a member of the First Congregational Church. She enjoyed gardening, slot machines; and playing games on her iPad. John and Emily loved their shih tzus over the years and traveling to Branson. She was an avid bowler and played on the Wednesday morning Nighthawks League. Emily also loved spending time with her family, especially her sisters.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, January 19, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Justin Rumley will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church, Kewanee or the Henry County Senior Citizens Center, Kewanee.
