Gilbert A. Simmons

Gilbert A. Simmons, Sr., 58, of Kewanee, died Monday, March 7, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Gilbert was born January 12, 1964, in Moline, the son of Donald and Peggy E. (Hines) Simmons. Gilbert married Lori Grant on September 5, 2009, in Toulon; she survives. Gilbert is also survived by his children, Gilbert Simmons, Jr., Matthew Simmons, Bradley Simmons, Kyle Grant, Teala Grant, Catrina VanCour; fourteen grandchildren; and siblings, Terrie (Perry) Wade, Camil, IL, Dennis (Donna) Fude, Green City, MO, Jerry (Mary) Simmons, Kewanee, Lloyd (Lorie) Cape Coral, FL., Patricia Reeves, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Simmons; and a daughter, Jacklyn Simmons. Gilbert drove a fork truck for HK Logistics, Chillicothe for 15 years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Detroit Lions fan. He enjoyed fishing and grilling out. Gilbert loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be from 1-3 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Goshen Township Building on Hwy 17 west of Toulon. Therre will be a service following at the Andover Cemetery.
