Grace Good Obituary

Grace L. Good, 101, of Kewanee, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at her home. Grace was born July 6, 1919 to Morton E. and Minnie (Lybarger) Crow in Olmstead County near Dover, Minnesota. Grace married W. Ted Good on May 19, 1943 at the Congregational Church in Rochester, Minnesota. They celebrated fifty years of marriage in 1993; he preceded her in death on December 7, 1993. Grace graduated from St. Charles High School in 1937 as valedictorian. She obtained her Associate's Degree from Rochester Junior College in Medical Secretarial Sciences in 1939. She also held an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Black Hawk East College. She was a secretary to three Mayo Clinic surgeons in Rochester, Minnesota. Grace was a member of the First Congregational Church, where she served as a church school superintendent, Board of Deacons, Board of Trustees, and Women's Fellowship. She also taught in the church school for several years.She was a member of the Tuesday Reading Club, Chapter C.S.P.E.O. and served as president. Grace belonged to the League of Women Voters for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Henry County Republican Women and the Midland Country Club. She was an avid golfer and Ladies Golf Champion in 1978. Grace belonged to the Friends of the Library and was a lifetime member of the Kewanee Historical Society, the Johnson Park Foundation, and the Henry County Historical Society. She was active in Girl Scouts and Women's Club in her earlier years. During her later years, she was a medical secretary at St. Francis Hospital and an instructor at Black Hawk East.Grace is survived by son, Thomas (Sue) Good, Galva; grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer) Good, Scott (Bridget) Good, Mandy (Chris) Colwell, Ginnie Gartin; great grandchildren, Liam, Kennedy, Owen, Kian Good, Nolan and Addison Good, Ewan and Lochlan Colwell; son, William "Bill" (Norma) Good, Kewanee; grandchildren, Jeff (Cindy) Brown, Julie Brown, Amy (Chris) Derks; step great grandchildren, Eloise Derks, Finley Brown and Anabel Derks. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.Private services will be Monday, December 28, 2020 at the First Congregational Church. Funeral will be live-streamed on Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church.
