Harold H. Schieler, 96, of Morton, formerly of Kewanee, passed away Monday, August 12, 2024, at Morton Reflections Memory Care. Harold was born July 28, 1928, in Kewanee, the son of Herman Gottlieb and Hilda Lorena Antonie (Richter) Schieler. He attended the Armstrong one room schoolhouse until 8th grade, he graduated from Wethersfield High School with the class of 1947. Harold married Karyl A. Ford on September 18, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church, Kewanee; she survives.
Harold is also survived by two daughters, Linda (Doug) Clough, Cape Coral, FL and East Moline, IL; Mary Ann (Greg) Gossmeyer, Standford, IL; three grandchildren, Ron Gerard, Cape Coral, FL, Joe (Lisa) Gossmeyer, Congerville, IL, Sarah (Nick) Pate, Bloomington, IL; six great grandchildren, Christy (William) Prentice, Davenport, Shaun Gerard, Oceanside, CA, Molly Gossmeyer, Congerville, IL, Abram Gossmeyer, Congerville, IL, Jackson Pate, Bloomington, Madelyn Pate, Bloomington; and two great-great grandchildren, Braideyn and Grayson Prentice. He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Dorothy Kaiser, Raymond Schieler, Richard Schieler.
Harold farmed in the Kewanee area. Harold also drew blueprints and built and sold houses. He harbored an appreciation for antique farm tractors and machinery, a collection that was more than a hobby, it was a testament to his love for agricultural heritage. His pride in his collection was evident as he drove his tractors in the Hog Days Parade. He was nominated outstanding young farmer for the JCs and was a member of the Optimist Club. Harold also built furniture. He was a jack of all trades. Harold loved his time in Missouri at their second home; that he lovingly designed and built for his family.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Wethersfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Morton Reflections Memory Care or Transitions Hospice Care, Peoria.
