Helen L. McMillan, 70, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Helen was born December 29, 1951, in Kewanee, the daughter of Merwyn G. and Norma E. (Miller) Turnbull. She attended Kewanee High School, graduating with the class of 1971. Helen married Ron L. McMillan on April 23, 1972, at Saint Peter’s Evangelical Church, Kewanee; he survives.
Helen is also survived by three daughters, Amie (Jason) Olson, Galva, Tamie (Paul Forward) McMillan-DeSmit, Tampico, Jamie (Duane) Wilson, Kewanee; grandchildren, Andrew (Jessica Crockett) DeSmit, Brittanie Weida Smith, McKennia (Jessica Purdy) Johnson, Dale Olson, Jett Olson, McKayla Wilson, McKenzie Wilson; great grandchildren, Claria Verway, Aidan Parrish, Wyatt Smith, Jameison Cravens, Evelynn DeSmit, Easton Moody, Kamden Moody; siblings, George Turnbull, Wheaton, IL, Mary DeClercq, Kewanee, Betty (Bill) Briggs, Kewanee; nieces and nephews, John DeClercq, Connie Brigss, Michael DeClercq, Willie Briggs; and great nieces and nephews, Aaron DeClercq, Cory DeClercq, Franchezka Briggs, Koeyn DeClercq, Emmorie DeClercq, Caesyn DeClercq; great great niece, Devlyn DeClercq. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Judi Turnbull; brothers-in-law, Terry DeClercq, Gus Zimmerman; and aunt, Mae Miller.
Helen worked at Lake Street Floral for 45 years. Helen attended Saint Peter’s Evangelical Church. She enjoyed gardening inside and outside; she had a green thumb. She also enjoyed fishing, jugging with the boys, and spending time at the cabin. Helen crocheted afghans for her family. Helen also liked spending time with her cats. She was always 35 years old. She especially loved spending time with her family.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, July 25, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Burial will be in Elmira Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
