Janis I. Mahan
Obituary
Janis Irene Mahan (née Pearson), 77, of Kewanee passed away December 23rd, 2022, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo. She was born June 6, 1945, to Dorothy Jackson and Hilding Pearson.
A Kewanee girl at heart, Janis helped arrange class reunions for KHS '63 as well as Jackson family reunions. Bishop Hill and Hog Days were two of her favorite things, and she enjoyed her dog Brinlie, scrapbooking, holidays, and reading. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from Denver University and worked in Denver, Tampa, and here at home in Cambridge. Cheerful, hardworking, and vivacious, she made friends wherever she went and was deeply devoted to her community.
Janis is survived by two sons, Kirby and Matt Beranek, and two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Kelsey Beranek. Family and friends were always the center of her life, and she is loved and missed beyond words.
Graveside services will be at 11 :00 am, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Elmira Cemetery. Pastor John Hauck will officiate. Please leave an online condolence for Janis’ family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
