Jean C. Hadsall, 78, of Kewanee, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center. Jean was born January 3, 1944, in Kewanee, the daughter of Carl and Florence (Witte) Kolberg. Jean attended Kewanee High School, graduating with the class of 1962. She obtained her LPN degree in nursing at Black Hawk East College. Jean married Michael Hadsall on October 27, 1962, in Waverly, Iowa; he survives.
Jean is also survived by two children, Jeff (Denise) Hadsall, Atkinson, Melissa (CAPT Lance) Thompson, South Bend, IN; five grandchildren, Miranda (Nathan) Dennison, Jeremy (Cassie) Parish, Alec Hadsall, Ryan Thompson, Allison Thompson; and four great grandchildren, Addison Hadsall, Mason Dennison, Xander Parish, Skyler Parish. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Leah Arnold and Julie Nell; and a brother, Dean Kolberg.
Jean worked as an LPN for Kewanee Public Hospital and was also able to give IVs. Jean was a den mother for Cub Scouts. Jean prioritized her work and her life around her children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, attended Sunday School, and faithfully served as the head of the funeral committee for many years. She was also a member of the Rebekah’s/Odd Fellows. She was the financial secretary of the 1962 class reunion team for years and enjoyed seeing her classmates. Jean enjoyed family camping trips at Allendale Conservation Club, Lake Calhoun, Colorado state, the Upper Peninsula, Michigan. Mike and Jean enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. They visited every continent, except Antarctica and every state, except Idaho. She also enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Jean also enjoyed watching and reading about cooking and finding recipes.
There will be a private family graveside service. Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
