Jerry L. Phelps, Sr.

Jerry L. Phelps, Sr.,75, of Galva, formerly of Kewanee, died Friday, November 18, 2022, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center. Jerry was born August 28, 1947, in Kewanee, the son of Floyd and Anna Mae (Thornbrugh) Phelps. Jerry married Mary F. Warnken on April 12, 1974, in Kewanee; she preceded him in death on August 6, 2022.

Jerry is survived by three children, Jerry Phelps, Jr., Galva, Michael Phelps, Kewanee, Angie (Cory) Wyant, Kewanee; three grandchildren, Christopher, Abigail, and Caleb; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; and a sister, Judith Jones.

He worked for Kewanee Machinery and Conveyor, Sheffield Brickyard and Pines/Great Dane. As a boy he worked for his dad as a mechanic’s apprentice. Jerry always wanted to go fishing. He enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire. He also enjoyed country music and watching westerns. Jerry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Encounter Church. Funeral service will be at 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the church. Burial will be in Annawan Cemetery. Pastor Stephen McGough will officiate. Memorials may be made to Encounter Church.
