Jerry Scott Obituary

Jerry R. Scott, 72, of Kewanee, died at his daughter's home surrounded by family on Friday, February 5, 2021. He battled cancer and fought to the end with his daughter, siblings, and grandkids by his side every day. Jerry was born January 29, 1949 in Stark County the son of Bernard and Darlene (Ferris) Scott. Jerry graduated from Galva High School with the class of 1967. He was a member of the Galva Four Square Church during his younger years.Jerry is survived by his daughter, Shelli Sauer, Kewanee; grandchildren, Alesia Juarez, Cruz Juarez, Laman Sauer, Carson Sauer, Landon Sauer, Alyssa Scott, Lana Scott, Mary Scott; great grandchildren, Meilahni Sky Juarez, and Carter Sauer; siblings, Leonard (Sherry) Scott, Ron (Lu) Scott, Cheryl Roper, Charlene Mugrage, Bernie (Jeanne) Scott, Dennis (Deirdre) Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Wyatt Scott; siblings, Leland, Steven, David; nephews, Clinton Scott, Steven Mugrage, and Addam Scott.Being self-employed in his construction business allowed him the freedom to dedicate all of his time to his children and grandchildren. He was always "on call" awaiting a grandkid to request Taco Bell or the other random "I'm starving" requests. He dropped whatever he was doing every time they called. Jerry's yard was a playland for his grandkids that was filled with a trampoline, a jungle gym, go-carts, mini-bikes, four wheelers, and BB guns. Yukon, Jerry's sidekick and best dog friend also added to the adventures at his home and on the job site. Jerry never missed any of his grandchildren's sporting events. He was their biggest fan and occasionally their worst critic. Jerry never held back and said it how it was, but his brutal honesty taught all the kids many life lessons. He instilled wonderful qualities in his grandkids such as caring for elderly and taught the boys to be gentlemen by holding doors and assisting people in need. Jerry not only enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, and basketball, but he loved sharing pointers with his grandkids too. He loved the outdoors and always wanted to take the grandkids camping in the mountains. He enjoyed taking care of his garden and eating fresh organic foods. Although Jerry will be missed tremendously by his family, his legacy will live on.Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the funeral home.
