Jerry E. Simmons

Jerry E. Simmons, 56, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his home. Jerry was born May 19, 1966, in Rock Island, the son of Donald and Peggy (Hines) Simmons. Jerry attended Kewanee High School, graduating with the class of 1984. Jerry married Mary Hamrick on May 2, 1997, in Kewanee; she survives.

Jerry is also survived by children, Andrew Simmons, Kewanee, Tiffany Simmons, Kewanee, Amelia Willey, Kewanee; two stepchildren, Amber Peed (John Murray), Kewanee, Richard Peed, Jr., Kewanee; four grandchildren, Alexander and Ayden Simmons, Benjamin and Roman Howard; five step grandchildren; Tyler, John, Camden, Tristynn, and Elizabeth; siblings, Terrie (Perry) Wade, MO, Dennis (Donna) Fude, Green City, MO, Lloyd (Lorie) Simmons, Cape Coral, FL, Greg Petty, Kewanee, Patricia Reeves, OK; and a sister in law, Lori Simmons, Toulon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Simmons; and a brother, Gilbert Simmons.

Jerry worked for Great Dane/Pines Trailer. Jerry was an avid Cubs, Bears and Black Hawks fan. He was a history buff; he always enjoyed watching the history channel. He loved rock ‘n roll, bluegrass, and rhythm and blues music. Jerry was a great chili chef. He liked reading, playing horseshoes, Piks, and pool. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Missouri to visit family. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Celebration of Life will be from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Encounter Church Fellowship Hall, 130 E McClure, Kewanee. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Please leave an online condolence for Jerry’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
