John G. Busboom, 84, of Buda, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Arcadia Care of Kewanee. John was born July 20, 1940, in Kewanee, the son of Gerad and Ruth (Statz) Busboom. John graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1958. John married Carole Nadine Eggimann on June 3, 1972, in Buda; she preceded him in death on April 11, 2024.
John is survived by their son, Michael (Amy) Busboom, Kewanee; grandchildren, Breanne (Quentin) Bryner, Kewanee, Rayanne Busboom, Kewanee, Catie Griffin, Kewanee, Sara Griffin, Kewanee; great grandchildren, Paisley Smith, Jovie Bryner, Ismael Astorga; sister-in-law, Linda Morse; and his best friend, Tedd Canellos. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Eva Ruth Busboom.
John served in the Army National Guard from 1958 – 1966. John worked in maintenance at Boss Manufacturing and Kewanee Manufacturing. John was a member of the Methodist Church in Buda and later the First United Church of Christ in Sheffield. John's passion for UNO brought laughter and fun to every gathering, and his devotion to his church community was unwavering. A beloved figure at his grandchildren's sports and other events, John's presence was a source of encouragement and pride. He enjoyed spending time in his garden. John's knack for winning stuffed animals at Bingo for his great-grandchildren will be fondly remembered as a token of his giving nature. His warm presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy of joy and kindness will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, Friday, March 14, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm, Friday, March 14, 2025, at the funeral home. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council immediately following the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society or First United Church of Christ, Sheffield.
