Joyce L. (Gulley) Erwin

Joyce L. Erwin, 90, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Betty’s Garden Memory Care Center. Joyce was born March 3, 1932, in Portsmouth, OH, the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Vaughters) Gulley. Joyce attended Portsmouth High School, OH, graduating with the class of 1950. Joyce married Arthur F. Williams on October 14, 1950; he preceded her in death on March 19, 1992. She married Ivan J. Erwin on August 14, 1994; he preceded her in death on January 31, 2012.

Joyce is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Bill) Scott, Kewanee; two sons, David (Lelia) Williams, Victoria, Kelly Williams (Michele Roesner), La Fayette; seven grandchildren, Steven (Silvia) Scott, Elkhorn, WI, Autumn Scott, Elkhorn, WI, Drew Williams, Kewanee, Danielle (Austin) Stroud, Kewanee, Danielle Nelson (Ben Price), Galva, Rachel (Phil, Jr.) Slusser, Kewanee, Shawn Williams (Ali Womack), La Fayette; twelve great grandchildren, Elyssa and Carlie Scott, Bryson and Korbin Williams, Haydn, Hayes and Teagan Stroud, Sophia Price, Marliana and Drake Slusser, Toby and Michael Williams; and a sister, Shirley Stefanovicz, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and a sister, Charlotte Overmiller.

Joyce worked at the First Christian Church as a secretary for many years. Prior to the church she worked for the Health Department and Walworth’s. She was in a woman’s prayer group at church. She was a member of the Woman’s Club. Joyce was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She enjoyed sewing fancy dresses, nightgowns, suit coats, for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with Ivan and staying in Florida for the winters. Joyce’s favorite thing was to babysit her grandchildren and spend time with her family.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor John Reside and Pastor Brian Giese will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
