Joyce A. Malec, 72, of Chicago, died Friday, March 15, 2024, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center. Joyce was born February 29, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John Albert and Edna Mildred (Smith) Rydberg.
Joyce is survived by a son, Christopher Malec, of Fargo, North Dakota; a daughter, Patty Williams, of Bolingbrook, IL; seven grandchildren; eleven siblings, thirty nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert Rydberg and Edna Mildred Smith; a brother, James Albert Rydberg, two brother- in- laws, Sam Hill and Paco Venegas.
Joyce attended high school in Chicago at William Rainey Harper High School, graduating in 1969. She was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Joyce was always up for adventure and traveling. Her first home was in Honolulu, Hawaii for a short period of time and then she moved to Missoula, Montana. She worked in home-health in Missoula, Montana. Joyce was a beautiful spitfire with a quirky sense of humor. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, and watching annoying TikToks.
There will be a Celebration of Life from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, on Saturday, July 29, 2024, at Tinley Creek Woods, 14113 Harlem Ave, Orland Park, IL.
