Kent Griffin

Kent Griffin, 74, of Kewanee, died Friday, April 5, 2024, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Kent was born July 24, 1949, in Moline, IL, the son of Clifford J. “CJ” and Diane “Helen” (Gustafson) Griffin. He graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 1967. Kent married Joelynn “Jody” S. Hand on August 2, 1970; she preceded him in death on October 9, 2022.

Kent is survived by two sons, Bruce Griffin, Kewanee, Tim Griffin, Kewanee; one daughter, Virginia McCormick, East Peoria; two grandchildren, Faith (Steven) Orf, Union, MO, Hope McCormick, East Peoria; four siblings, Donovan (Judy) Griffin, Linda (Marvin) Ennis, Pat (Jim) Foster, Jan Powers; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister and brother-in-law, Chris and Don Ince; and a nephew, Chad Hansen.

Kent works as an assembler of planters and tractors at John Deere. He previously worked for Hyster, Park District, Black Hawk College, Woolworth, and Kress Corporation. Kent was a jack of all trades. During his younger years he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Kent also had a home Bible study with his family. He enjoyed gambling, Western movies, and Kewanee history. He was an Illini sports, Kewanee football and basketball fan. He loved spending time with a group of friends at McDonald’s in the morning. Kent enjoyed telling stories and loved a good dad joke.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the First Christian Church. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the church.
