Kipp Abernathy Obituary

Kipp L. Abernathy, 48, of Kewanee, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals, Madison, WI. Kipp was born November 24, 1974, in Kewanee, the son of Timothy W. and Sharon K. (Preston) Abernathy. Kipp attended Stark County Schools, graduating with the class of 1993. Kipp married Heidi Boardman, in 2005, in Kewanee; they later divorced, but remained friends; she survives.

Kipp is survived by his mother, Sharon, La Fayette, IL; son, Krayten R. Abernathy, Kewanee; daughter, Kieryn R. Abernathy, Kewanee; brother, Brad (Marlo) Abernathy, Galesburg; aunts, Tina Abernathy and Tonya Abernathy, both of Galva; uncle, Clifford “Sonny” Preston, La Fayette; nephews, Zachary Abernathy, Bryce Abernathy, both of Galesburg; and cousins, Rick Preston, Geneseo, Ryan Preston, Modena. He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Doris Abernathy; and maternal grandmother, Florence Preston.

Kipp was a mechanic by trade. Kipp enjoyed camping and fishing. Kipp especially enjoyed spending time with his children and having a good time with his friends.

A Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Kewanee American Legion. Burial will be in the La Fayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
