Linda DeBord Obituary

Linda L. DeBord, 74, of Kewanee, died Monday, October 7, 2024, at her home. Linda was born February 1, 1950, in Kewanee, the daughter of Melvin “Cookie” and Marlo G. (Charlton) Morrison. Linda married Kirk DeBord on November 22, 1968, in Cambridge; he preceded her in death on September 13, 2020.

Linda is survived by her two children, Carrie (Kurt) Gustafson, Kewanee, Josh DeBord (Elanda Baker), Kewanee; six grandchildren, Alexandra (Jon) Lindbom, Courtlin Gustafson, Rasheed DeBord, Rashaun (Grace) DeBord, Mary (Kameron Washington) DeBord, Brynn Christian; one great grandchild, Reese Lindbom; mother, Marlo; her sister, Glenna Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; son in infancy; two sisters, Mary “Lainey” Huffman, Sheryle “Sherry” Scott; and a nephew, Wyatt Scott.

Linda was a homemaker, owned a craft store, and worked at Connie’s Custom Curtains. She was one of the original baseball moms, known far and wide for the delicious cookies she lovingly baked for the team.

Linda was an integral part of DeBord Heating and Air Conditioning, where she was her husband’s right-hand lady. Her marriage to Kirk was a testament to the joy found in companionship, with both Kirk and Linda finding contentment in the quiet moments spent together at home. Her and her sisters’ bond was strong and full of joy, thoroughly enjoying each other’s company.

A true artist at heart, Linda expressed her creativity through various mediums, including painting, baking, crocheting, and macramé. Her hands were rarely still, always busy crafting something beautiful or useful. As a seamstress, she demonstrated her extraordinary skills by making her daughter's wedding dress.

Linda's grandchildren were the light of her life, and she embraced every opportunity to spoil them with affection, crafting memorable experiences that they will treasure forever.
