Lloyd “Old Man” W. Lashbrook, 77, of Kewanee, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at OSF St. Luke’s Medical Center, Kewanee. Lloyd was born June 22, 1947, the son of Willis Junior and Elaine M. (Howard) Lashbrook in Geneseo. He attended Annawan Schools, graduating with the class of 1965. Lloyd married Penny S. Johnson on September 28, 1968, at the Fairview Methodist Church, Annawan; she survives.
Lloyd is also survived by three daughters, Jackie (Jim) Morgan, Galesburg, Terri McDonald, Moline, Kelli (Paul) Davis, Kewanee; a nephew he considered a son, Rodney (Megan) Verschage, Kewanee; two grandchildren raised as their own children, Dusti Lashbrook and Samantha Knott; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and all of the other children that came into the house; a brother, Robert “Doc” Lashbrook, Sublette, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Francis Johnson; mother-in-law, Edna Johnson; and a nephew, Tate Lashbrook.
Lloyd served in the United States Air Force; he was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 8078. Lloyd drove semi as an owner operator and was leased to Kaplan. During his younger years he farmed. He enjoyed driving his tractor in the Hog Days Parade. He also enjoyed going fishing. Working outside in the yard and sitting on the porch brought him joy. Morning breakfast with his friends at the Red Apple was a daily pleasure. Lloyd especially loved family cookouts; he was a family man.
Military Rites will be accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Visitation will follow until 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Pastor Andrew Christman will officiate. A Private Family Burial will take place at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.
