Lois Irene Eshelman, 94 of Ankeny, Iowa, and formerly of Kewanee, Illinois died Sunday, July 9 2023, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 SE Sharon Dr. Ankeny, IA 50021, on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of the services at the church.
There will be a second Funeral Service held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 12:30 pm at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home, 219 E 2nd Street, Kewanee, Illinois 61443. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Illinois. In loving memory of Lois, memorials may be directed to the Redeemer Nixa Preschool, located in Redeemer Lutheran Church, 911 W Mt Vernon Street, Nixa, Missouri 65714.
Lois was born on July 23, 1928, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of William and Molly (Warkentine) Bentley. She attended Kewanee High School in Kewanee, Illinois and graduated in 1946. Lois was united in marriage to Philip David Eshelman on April 2, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kewanee, Illinois. There are four children to this union, David, Linda, Dwaine and Priscilla.
Lois was a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and painting. Most of all, Lois loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith as a child and has been a steadfast member of the Lutheran church throughout her life. She was currently a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny.
Lois was preceded in death by her brother in infancy, Paul, and two sisters, Ruth Snider and Dorothy Reiss. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Philip David Eshelman; her four children, David (Stephanie) Eshelman of St. Louis, Missouri, Linda (Jerry) Newswander of Ankeny, Iowa, Dwaine (Kim) Eshelman of Monroe, Ohio, and Priscilla (Chris) Fenelon of Fort Pierce, Florida; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
