The families of Lupe’ Rodriguez Meloen and Jennie Rodriguez Richardson (sisters) will memorialize them together.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home, Kewanee, IL. The memorial will start at 10:30 am followed by graveside services at 11:15 am. Father Narcis Katambe will officiate. Your special memories of Lupe’ and Jennie may be shared briefly with attendees at the memorial if you choose to do so.
In lieu of flowers for Jennie, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Henry County Humane Society, Kewanee.
In lieu of flowers for Lupé, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Visitation Catholic School or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Jennie T. (Rodriguez) Richardson, 78 of Peru Ill., formerly of Kewanee and Moline, Ill., passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Heartland Health Care Center, Henry, Ill.
Lupé P. (Rodriguez) Meloen, 97 previously from Kewanee passed away at 11:30 am Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at Eden Retirement Center Glen Carbon, IL. She passed peacefully surrounded by loving family.
Both were born to Santos J. Reyes Rodriguez and Mercedes Lomeli Rodriguez. The sisters were second generation members of St. John Paul Catholic Church and also graduates of Visitation School and Kewanee High School.
Lupé married James G. Meloen on July 23, 1949. They were married for 64 years. Lupé was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Later in life she worked for GE in Morrison, IL. and then for Bridgeway in Kewanee. At Bridgeway, she cherished her role guiding adults requiring supervision. Lupé dearly loved family, dancing, was an avid reader and traveled to six countries.
Jennie married Manuel Marquez. Together, they had one son, Steven. She later married Merle Richardson. Jennie was employed by Westclox in Peru, IL., Eagles Warehouse in Milan, and Franciscan Hospital in Rock Island, IL. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing and watching movies.
Lupé and Jennie were preceded in death by their parents; their husbands; their brother, Anthony (Mary Ann) Rodriguez of Peru, IL; and by two sisters, Henrietta (Manuel) Diaz and Dolores (Donald) Lazar of Kewanee.
Jennie is affectionately remembered by her son, Steven Marquez of Colorado; and by her nieces and nephews.
Lupé is lovingly remembered by two daughters, Lois (Michael) Woods and Lynn (Bill) Warren; beloved nephews, (like sons) Steven Marquez and Rudy Vazquez; four grandchildren Zachary, Sierra, Andreá, Hannah; and great grandchildren, Meloen, Sutton, Elizabeth, Levi and Jaxson. There are also nieces, nephews and several godchildren.
