M. Marie Ainley

M. Marie Ainley, 88, of Kewanee, died Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Cape Coral, FL. Marie was born August 12, 1935, in Bridgeport, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Lillian (Clark) Wilcox. She married Jerry D. Ainley, on July 23, 1955; they later divorced and remained friends; he preceded her in death in 2003.

Marie is survived by her five children, Jerry L. (Pam) Ainley, Roxane (Mitch) Millman, Curtis (Jane) Ainley, Cheryl Swearingen, Jeffery (Nancy) Ainley; 14 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; two siblings, Betty (Efton) Elliott and Robert (Jeanne) Wilcox; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Harold Swearingen; sisters, Anna (Curtis) Carroll, Ella Hunt, Dorothy Price; two brothers in infancy; and a great granddaughter in infancy.

Marie was self-employed as a housekeeper. She loved to go play cards on Friday night with the girls. She created countless treasures through her knitting and crocheting.  Marie loved living on the farm, taking care of the animals and her plants.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the First Christian Church from 12:30 - 4:00 pm. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Please leave an online condolence for Marie’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
