Marie Matuszyk

Marie Matuszyk, 90, of Kewanee, died Monday, September 20, 2021, at her home. Marie was born December 16, 1930, in Lynn Township, Knox County, the daughter of John and Lavonne (Stutler) Mallery. Marie married Frank Matuszyk on June 17, 1950, at St. Stanislaus; he preceded her in death on December 22, 1969.Marie is survived by five children, Jerry Matuszyk, Kewanee, Sue DeValkenaere, Kewanee, Rick (Sherri) Matuszyk, Kewanee, Vicki (Jim) Holtschult, Chicago, Deb (Bryan) Knuth, Bloomington; seven grandchildren, Jill Shofner, Michelle (Brad) Matuszyk-Brown, Ashley Matuszyk, Katie Holtschult, Scott Holtschult, Taylor (Danielle) Knuth, Tyler Knuth; three great grandchildren, Alex Shofner, Matthew and Nathan Knuth; one brother, Harry L. (Betty) Mallery; two sisters-in-law, Clarice Mallery and Sister Ann Margaret Matuszyk; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death parents; husband; sister, Hazel (Donald) Bengtson; and a brother, Pete Mallery. Marie worked at Zarvell's Bakery and later was a CNA at Leisure Hills Nursing Home and Hillcrest Nursing Home. She enjoyed reading, roses, bird watching, doing puzzles, sudoku and baking pies, birthday cakes and cookies. Marie also enjoyed Daniel O'Donnell. She was an avid Cubs fan. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Monday, September 27, 2021, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 27, 2021, at the funeral home. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
