Obituary

Marilyn A. Cowling, 79, of Neponset, died Sunday, September 18, 2022, at her daughter’s home surrounded by family. Marilyn was born August 19, 1943, in Hastings, Michigan the daughter of Bill Howe and Rena (Nichols).  Marilyn married Virgil L. Cowling on September 18, 1961, in Hastings, Michigan; he preceded her in death on February 17, 2003.

Marilyn is survived by four children, Cindy Troyer, Neponset, Diana Sutton, Kewanee, Ginney (Ron) Vinson, Kewanee, Matt (Kalisa) Cowling, Mineral; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce Jarman, Helen Laubaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children in infancy; son, Ron Troyer; three siblings, Ronald Troyer, Tommy Troyer, and De De Millirans; a grandson, Nicholas Troyer; and her special friend, Tom Bell.

Marilyn was a homemaker, a CNA, and worked for various restaurants. Marilyn was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, playing computer games, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed watching stock car races and demolition derbies. She was a huge Christmas and Elvis fan. She enjoyed snapping beans from their garden with Virgil. Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2022, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 23, 2022, at the funeral home.
