Marilyn Humphrey Obituary

Marilyn J. Humphrey, 85, of Kewanee, died Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Betty's Garden. Marilyn was born September 10, 1935 in Kewanee, the daughter of Russell and Dorothy (Martin) Lindstrom. Marilyn went to Good's School thru Junior High; she was in the last class to graduate from the original Wethersfield High School with the class of 1952. Married James A. "Jim" Humphrey, Jr. on October 18, 1953 in Kewanee; he preceded her in death on January 31, 2012. Marilyn is survived by one son, Nick (Randi) Humphrey, Kewanee; daughter, Laura (Richard) Butler, Kewanee; six grandchildren, Krista (Greg) Eble, Chelsea (Shannon) Humphrey, Cody (Nikki) Butler, Brandon (Maribeth) Butler, Amber (Dave) Pratt and Autumn (John) Summy; twelve great grandchildren; brother, Loren (Dianne) Lindstrom, sister, Janet Huber; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jim.Marilyn met the love of her life working at Kroger's Grocery Store. She started working at Wethersfield School in the early 1950's and worked there for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; she was a church organist and was in many circles at church. She was a member of the Southside Club and her and Jim played monthly cards with her friends since the late 1950's. Marilyn and Jim were members of the Flemish American Club, where they made many friends. She loved to attend her children, grandchildren's, nieces and nephew's sporting and school events. Marilyn loved to cook and garden. She enjoyed playing piano and accompanied solos and ensembles at Wethersfield High School. She especially loved her family very much and enjoyed growing up on her family's farm.Memorial Graveside Services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, March 8, 2021 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Masks required and please observe social distancing guidelines. Service will also be live streamed on the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Facebook page. Reverend Jim Breed will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Kewanee Senior Citizens Center and Kewanee Food Pantry. The family would like to thank the staff of Courtyard Estates and Betty's Garden for all their exceptional love and care for Mom, it was deeply appreciated.
