Mark Allen VanDeRostyne, 70, of Oak Hill, Florida, and formerly of Kewanee died at 2:20 am Sunday, September 11, 2022, unexpectedly at home in Oak Hill, Florida. Burial will be private at Mount Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in Kewanee. Brandee Golnick, certified funeral celebrant will officiate. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held October 22, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the American Legion in Kewanee.
Mark was born May 18, 1952, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Marvin J. and Margaret F. (VandeMark) VanDeRostyne. He was reared and educated in Kewanee, graduating from Kewanee High School, where he was a football standout. He worked as a butcher for his parents in their store on 6th Street, C & M Market for many years. He later purchased Edna’s on Beach Street in 1978 and operated it as Mark’s Tap for 35 years, retiring in 2013. He then went to work at Windish Transport, GS Trucking, and as a parts delivery driver for O’Reilly’s Auto Parts for four years, retiring in September 2020.
Mark married Susan (Sue) Peed-Lang November 3, 1984. She survives, as well as, one daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Edwards of Kewanee; and son Jeremy (Kirsten) Lang of Williamsburg Iowa. Mark is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jordyn Dykeman, Jocolyn Little, Jaiden Little, McKayla Lang, Micah Lang, Brittany and Lindsey Edwards; and two great grandsons, Grayson Schneider and Messiah Hodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Linda Plate.
Mark enjoyed his friends of Mark’s Tap more than anyone knew, especially hosting everyone on Christmas Day, the day he took over the bar.
