Obituary

Mary Luella Standaert, 92, a long-time resident of Kewanee, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, where she had been a resident for the past few months. Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with a burial at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Mary Lou was born in Dover Township, Illinois to Claude and Ada (Stocking) McCall on January 22, 1930. Her parents died at an early age and she and two siblings lived at Children’s Covenant Home in Princeton for a few years. Following high school, Mary Lou married Edmond Standaert on December 27, 1947. She and Eddie built their home in Kewanee and lived in that house all of their married life until his passing in 2012, when she later moved to Courtyard Village.

There will be no funeral service. It was Mary Lou’s wish to have only a private graveside service. Pastor Randy Hroziencik will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Kewanee. Please leave an online condolence for Mary’s family at www.golnickschuenemanfh.com.
