Mary Lee Wilsey

Mary Lee Wilsey, 88, of Kewanee, died Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Courtyard Estates. Mary Lee was born June 16, 1934, in Hebron, OH, the daughter of John and Thelma (Shaw) Smith. She attended Lancaster High School; graduating with the class of 1952. Mary Lee married George A. Wilsey on August 29, 1954, in Lancaster, OH; he preceded her in death on March 31, 2021.

Mary Lee is survived by three sons, Phil (Marilyn) Wilsey, Cincinnati, OH, Doug Wilsey, Bloomington, IL, Jeff (Brenda) Wilsey, St. Louis, MO; special niece, Val (Glen) Kirby, Trenton, MO; four grandsons; four granddaughters; five great grandchildren and another on the way; brother, LeRoy Smith; sisters, Linda Norwood, Marty Arbuiso, Eva Poston. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Alice Landerfelt.

Mary Lee enjoyed being a farmer’s wife and helping on the farm. She was an active member of the Burn’s Township Home Extension Association; where they taught women how to cook, canning, take care of their children, and sewing. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the MS Society for many years; she helped establish support groups throughout the state. George and Mary Lee endowed two scholarships for Wethersfield and Galva students at Black Hawk East for a student attending for a skilled trade. Mary Lee enjoyed "cousin's week" every year, where the grandchildren all came to stay with them at the farm, no parents allowed. She enjoyed monthly Cousin's Card Club for 50 years.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, December 2, 2022, at Golnick-Schueneman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the funeral home. Pastor Art Blegen will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abilities Plus.
