Wynne L. "Mrs. Porter" Johnson, 61 of Kewanee, died Friday, April 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. Wynne was born September 7, 1960, in Peoria, the daughter of Wayne and Sally (Weigel) Harper. She graduated from Wethersfield High School with the class of 1978. Wynne married William "Porter Bill" Johnson on May 15, 1993, in Kewanee at the former Grace Church of the Nazarene; he preceded her in death in 2013.Wynne is survived by her three step-daughters, Denise (Greg) Berlin, Summerfield, FL, Heidi (Prioleau) Charleston, SC, Wendy (fiancé, Jay Landsiedel), Edwards, IL; four grandchildren, Joshua (Candis) Gradert, Mallory Bowman, Mason and Ava Goodrum; five great grandchildren, Kaden, Aiden, Trinity, Kailyn; Micah, one brother, Wesley "Wes" (Peg) Harper; one sister, Willa Harper. Also surviving are three nieces and nephews, Amber (Mark) Canfield, Joseph (Lisa) Harper, and Jason (Melissa) Harper; many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; beloved aunts, and several very special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The world is less colorful place without Wynne, but perhaps the thing those who loved her will miss most is her laugh; never one to seek the spotlight, she'd listen closely to what her friends were saying, and was always the first to catch their humor-if you weren't listening to the conversation, just hearing Wynne laugh would make you wish you had. She loved playing in her pool league, mastering crossword puzzles, and reading a wide variety of books.Wynne worked for JC Penny, Sullivan's and Bryton, Inc. She was a master at computers and an exceptional employee, as she was always cheerful and looking for the positive side of any situation. Her work ethic was well known, as it would take a real storm to keep her from being at work on time, and doing her part as a member of the team. Her husband often referred to her as "My Flamingo." She would, in fact, stand on one foot, which entertained her husband and her friends. On her birthday, friends would flood her lawn with the pink birds. Her famous laugh made the annual event even more joyous. Most of all, Wynne loved spending time with friends, family, and going to her grandchildren's events. A Celebration of Wynne's Life will be from 1:00 - 4:00 pm, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the American Legion, Kewanee.
