Norma Hepner Obituary

Norma J. Hepner, 88, of Brandenburg Corners in rural Kewanee, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria. Norma was born August 16, 1933, Osco Township, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar K. and Ruth A. (Johnson) Sellman. She graduated from Cambridge High School with the class of 1951. Norma married Robert L. Hepner on February 25, 1956, at the Cambridge Lutheran Church; after 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on July 27, 2016. Norma is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Jeff) Wasson, Iowa City; daughter-in-law, Annette Hepner, Peoria; three grandchildren, Annika (Kevin) Buell, North Liberty, IA, Linnea Hepner, Kissimmeee, Florida, and Trevor Wasson, Petersburg, IL; sister-in-law, Kay Sellman, Geneseo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alvin and Phyllis Hepner; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Robert Hepner in 2013; brothers, Ralph (Mary) Sellman, LaVerne Sellman; and sister, Myrtle (Arthur) Gustafson.Norma worked for Belle Alexander Elementary School as a secretary for 31 years. Norma was a member of the Church of Peace. She enjoyed scrapbooking, playing cards and dancing. She also enjoyed socializing with her friends at McDonald's and the Senior Center. Norma especially loved spending time with her family and helping the neighbors on the farms. Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Church of Peace. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm, Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Church of Peace. The funeral home will maintain compliance with COVID regulations and requires that all guests wear a mask for the safety of all those attending. Pastor Andrew Christman and Pastor Dan Craig will officiate. Burial will be in the Garden of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of Peace, the Kewanee Historical Society, or to the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
