Paul E. Williams

Paul E. Williams, 61, of Mendota, Illinois, formerly of Neponset, died Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born October 20, 1959 to Carl G. and Helen L. (Harrison) Williams in Princeton, Illinois. He grew up in Neponset, Illinois graduating from Kewanee High School. He was baptized May 1, 1960 at First Methodist Church in Neponset, Illinois. Growing up he attended the Congregational Church of Neponset. In later years, he moved to Spring Valley, Illinois and then Mendota, Illinois. He was employed by Horizon Industries in Spring Valley, Illinois, and he was tremendously proud of his work there.Paul is survived by his sister-in-law, Lila (Junis) Williams of Kearney, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, Cindy and Mike Laue, Randy Williams, Nancy and Todd Boyle, and Eric Peterson; great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Stacy, Kent, Justin, Aaron, Marissa, Elise, and Evan; cousins, Judy and Ernie Thompson, Dawn Bradley and Tony Kopec, JerriLynn Hoffine, and Jack Williams. He was preceded in death by parents, Carl and Helen, brother, Marvin, and sister, Ida Marlene.Special Olympics was a lifelong passion for Paul. He attended the inaugural Special Olympics and was thrilled to participate every year thereafter, receiving his 50-year recognition in 2018. He was involved in many sports, and bowling was one of his favorites.Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 am, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the funeral home. Funeral services will also be livestreamed on the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Facebook page. Pastor Jon Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Neponset. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to: Horizon House of IL Valley, Inc., 2000 Plank Road, Peru, IL 61354. Horizon House allowed Paul to live independently in a supportive community home environment. We wish the same for all the other "Pauls" in the world.
