Rita P. Koren

Rita P. Koren, 85, of Kewanee, formerly of Wyoming, died Saturday, October 16, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Rita was born March 17, 1936, in Rock Island, the daughter of Harold Roush and Florence (Reismeyer) King. She attended Bradford Schools. Rita married Arvin T. Thompson on March 29, 1952; he preceded her in death on June 12, 1963. Rita later married Donald Koren in Springfield, IL on February 27, 1965; he survives. Rita is survived by son, Wayne Thompson, Kewanee; two daughters, Arvilla (Michael) Scollon, St. Charles, IL, Patricia (Mike) Brockhouse, Chillicothe; five grandchildren, Nicole (Nathan) Lynch, Mitchell Scollon, Linda Thompson, Shelli (James) White, and Curtis Brockhouse; three great grandchildren, Emily, Evan, Cole; brother, Bob King, Kewanee; and a sister, Elizabeth (Jim) Vancil, Davenport. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arvin; brother, Harold Roush, Jr., and a special sister-in-law, Mary Ann King. Rita worked at the Senior Citizen Center and at Union Federal in Kewanee. She was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 11:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the funeral home. Deacon Martin VanMeltebeck will officiate. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery.
