Sandra K. Townsend

Sandra "Sandy" K. Townsend, 80, of Kewanee, died Friday, January 29, 2021 at her home. Sandy was born August 16, 1940 in Kewanee, the daughter of Philip and Beverly (Hepner) DeToye. She graduated from Kewanee High School with the class of 58. Sandy married James Townsend on June 18, 1961; they later divorced, but remained good friends; he preceded her in death.Sandy is survived by four children, Kimberly (Kevin) DeClercq, Kewanee, Michael (Verna) Townsend, Peoria, Jami Townsend, Kewanee, Patrick (Lorie) Townsend, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Megan (Chris) DeClercq-DeVenney, Matt (Ashtin) DeClercq, Andrew (Taryn) DeClercq, Haile Townsend (Riley), Melanie (Kyle) Townsend-Lamm, Jacob, Miah; great grandchildren, Corbin, Mackenzie, Brinley, Dawson, Rilynn, and another on the way. She is preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Gary DeToye.Sandy did finance and administrative work for Machinery Conveyor, Kewanee Corp, and Martin Engineering. Most recently she did office and title work for Ince's Towing, retiring after her health prohibited her from working after 15 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served on various boards and committees. She loved sewing, fixing and mending clothes for others. She enjoyed puzzles, the Chicago Cubs, and the Kewanee Boilermakers. She enjoyed bowling on league, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of her Bridge Club for over 50 years. Sandy enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and traveling with friends. She loved their annual trips to Florida.Private family services will be held Friday, February 5, 2021. Funeral services will be live streamed on the Schueneman-Tumbleson Funeral Home Facebook Page at 11:00 am, Friday, February 5, 2021. Pastor Jon Vincent will officiate.
