Shirley M. Cravens

Shirley M. Cravens, 78, of Kewanee, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Allure of Prophetstown. Shirley was born October 6, 1946, in Kewanee, the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Dunn) Bishop. She grew up as the daughter of farmers and enjoyed the rural life as a child.  Shirley was raised and educated in the Wyoming area.  In her young adult years she moved about some, living in New York and Florida before returning to her native Illinois.
Shirley is survived by her sister, Patricia Wohl, Peoria; and 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Dorothy Bishop, Peggy Bishop, Florence Frail, and Lula Belle; a brother, Robert Bishop; and her special friend, Roger Riffle.
Shirley enjoyed working and worked in the factory of Excelled Leather in Kewanee until well into her seventies. An avid treasure hunter, Shirley's weekends were often spent perusing yard sales and resale shops. Shirley's love for camaraderie shone through in her regular dining outings with friends. Her spirit of freedom and adventure was further expressed through the thrill of riding on the back of a friend's motorcycle whenever the chance arose. Shirley was kind and a true friend who frequently volunteered to drive her friends or run errands when they were unable to do so.
